A hitchhikers guide to free Oracle tuning tools
Limited Capacity seats available

Instance and SQL tuning with EM12c Cloud Control is so easy, it is not even much fun anymore. Also, not every customer may have the appropriate license or database edition, or all you have available remotely is a command-line login to a database.
This presentation showcases a few open-source database tuning tools such as Snapper and ASH replacements that DBAs can use to gather and review metrics and wait events from the command line and even in standard edition.
This is done by dissecting the familiar performance pages in EM12c, explaining the underlying statistics and showing how similar observations can be made in other tools.

Becoming a Multitenant DBA
Limited Capacity seats available

Oracle Multitenant option allows you consolidate multiple databases into a single one. But most DBAs find the idea of managing a multitenant environment daunting. In this session you will learn what the speaker—a real word DBA user—did to be a DBA in a multitenant environment and used the tools, features and techniques always used--backup/recovery using RMAN, ASM, security, RAC, Data Guard, Cloud Control, EM Express and everything else. As this session will explain, there is little change to your understanding to manage a multitenant database—both as a CDBA and a PDBA.

Value to the Customer

Many customers often find multitenant concepts hard to understand and are concerned about the compatibilities of the tools they are familiar with. This session aims to quash those concerns.

Pluggable Databases - What they will break and why you should use them anyway!
Limited Capacity seats available

The multitenant architecture was "the" headline feature announced in Oracle Database 12c. On the surface pluggable databases sounds great, but are they really? This presentation will explain the parts of your systems that will break if you move to pluggable databases, but why you should probably use them anyway.

All the concepts will be explained with the cause of the vulnerability and how it can be sealed with the relatively simple techniques available with the Oracle database, some with live demos. The knowledge comes to aid of those who plan of complaint with PCI, SOX and GLBA requirements.
